From
childhood, coloured pencils and painting filled me
up with
happiness. My training in Fine Arts led me to
study great masters such as Rembrandt, Fantin-Latour, John Singer
Sargent, William Bouguereau and Jean-Baptiste Siméon
Chardin. This was the beginning of a beautiful adventure that led
me to the discovery of a fascinating world.
Creation
of my work is always inspired by an object which
fascinates me
or that moves me. I construct my subject
around this object and I work out several drafts until composition
moves me. My subject, as well as the
emotion which I want
to create for the observer determines the type of medium that I use
(oil, dry
pastel or charcoal). Nowadays, I enjoy
working with both oil and dry pastel. I
discovered pastel during my training at Mission:
Renaissance.
Its
dusty texture and its velvety effect enticed me, as
well as the
absence of time of drying. As for oil, it allows texture
effects
impossible
to acquire with dry pastel.
My
sources of inspiration are varied, but my objective
always remains
the same: emphasize the beauty of the objects around me. I create from
objects
of the daily, from photographs which I took in the course of time, or
else,
according to specific requests which are subjected to me.
My
approach to painting consists in working out some
drafts, then
choosing a colour palette which will emphasize my subject.
Later, if my choice stops on pastel,
I choose the type of paper that I am
going to use, as well as its colour according to the effect which I
want to
produce.
When
it comes to orders, preparative drafts are
introduced to the
customers and once they have chosen the
preferred draft, I undertake the execution of painting.
Once it is complete, the customer is met and
adjustments are brought, if needed.
I
explore all subjects, but nowadays it is the still life
as well as the
portrait which inspire me most. They
demand a workmanship of the drawings that constitutes a challenge every
instant, which stimulates me tremendously.
